About Catherine

An accomplished healthcare communications and marketing executive with decades of senior leadership experience, Harrell served as Chief Marketing Officer for $4B health system prior to founding her consulting company. Among her multi-market responsibilities were a tertiary academic enterprise, expanding physician organization and ACO, statewide service line development, as well as merger and acquisition integration. She has successfully and consistently achieved both short and long-range goals for internal and external communications supporting patient safety and experience, physician relations, team member engagement, financial performance, and growth.

Like most, communication challenges have been in ample supply. Her competencies include leading strategic communications and integrated marketing, brand and identity management, crisis communications, media relations, and consumer engagement. Because healthcare organizations reflect the communities in which they serve, she is no stranger to the circumstances of natural disasters, and sensitive regulatory or legal adversity. She has extensive experience in reputation management and executive communications. Harrell is a trusted leader who has earned her own reputation for quality performance, building strong relationships with board members, physicians and team members.

“I’ve been fortunate to have worked with outstanding teams and talented individuals who have been deeply committed to their principles and serving the greater good. Consumers trust healthcare to work the way it’s intended. I always believe my communications must reflect the best of the clinical quality and excellence patients expect and deserve.”

Throughout her career, Harrell has supported healthcare, education, new business strategies, advocacy, and fund-raising activities. She has been named the Practitioner of the Year by the Public Relations Association of Louisiana and her teams have earned numerous regional and national awards for creative marketing and communication excellence. She is a graduate of Hollins College in Roanoke, Virginia and earned her Master of Business Administration from LSU.
